Terms & Conditions

By making a reservation with www.rentanddrivecv.com (operated by Rent & Drive Group S.A., Santa Maria, Sal, Cape Verde), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. The rental agreement is formed upon confirmation of your booking and is binding on both parties.

All renters and additional drivers must:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Hold a valid driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category (Category B for cars, quads and UTVs; no licence required for scooters under 50 cc).
• Present the original licence at the time of vehicle collection. A foreign licence is accepted; an international driving permit is recommended for non-EU/non-Portuguese licences.

The vehicle will be delivered to the address or hotel specified in your booking confirmation, or collected from our office in Santa Maria. You are responsible for inspecting the vehicle upon receipt and reporting any pre-existing damage before departure. Vehicles must be returned on the agreed date and time. Late returns may incur additional charges at the daily rate.

All prices shown are in Euros (€) and include third-party liability insurance and helmet(s) where applicable. Payment is due at the time of vehicle collection unless otherwise agreed. We accept cash (EUR or CVE) and major credit/debit cards. Prices are subject to change without notice until a booking is confirmed.

A refundable security deposit may be required at collection, depending on the vehicle type. The deposit will be returned upon safe return of the vehicle in its original condition, minus any charges for damage, fuel, or additional cleaning. The amount will be communicated at the time of booking or collection.

Vehicles are provided with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a refuelling charge will be deducted from the security deposit at market rate plus a service fee.

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the rental start date are free of charge. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the rental start date may incur a charge of up to one day's rental. All rentals include third-party liability insurance as required by Cape Verdean law. This does not cover damage to the rented vehicle, theft, personal injury to the driver, or damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The renter is fully liable for any damage to the vehicle not covered by insurance. Optional damage waivers may be available — ask at the time of booking.

The renter agrees not to:

• Drive the vehicle outside of Sal Island without prior written consent.
• Allow any unlicensed or unauthorised person to operate the vehicle.
• Use the vehicle for racing, off-road driving in restricted areas, or any illegal purpose.
• Drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs ability.
• Carry more passengers than the vehicle's stated capacity.

Breach of any prohibited use voids insurance coverage and the renter bears full liability.

In the event of a breakdown, accident, or theft, the renter must immediately notify Rent & Drive CV at +238 984 51 38 and, in the case of an accident involving third parties, the local police. The renter must not abandon the vehicle and must follow our instructions. Roadside assistance is included in all rentals during normal operating hours.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cape Verde. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sal Island, Cape Verde.
